Mumbai City FC host Kerala Blasters as they are back at the iconic Mumbai Football Arena – The defending ISL Shield winners, Mumbai City FC are finally back at the Mumbai Football Arena hosting the mighty Kerala Blasters today at 8.00 PM IST. The Islanders are arriving at the game after a loss midweek against Navbahor in ACL, while KBFC are unbeaten, winning both their home games against BFC and JFC.
As previously mentioned, Mumbai City FC suffered a resounding defeat at the hands of the Uzbekistan-based team Navbahor in the AFC Champions League, ending with a scoreline of 0-3. The Islanders appeared bewildered and taken aback by Navbahor’s performance, and they are eager to make a strong comeback in their upcoming match against Kerala Blasters.
“The atmosphere within the Mumbai City FC camp is positive. We have played four games so far this season, including two Champions League matches and two league fixtures, which are quite distinct in nature. Despite a demanding week of travel, we have managed to get everyone in top form and feeling revitalized. The team is in high spirits, and we’ve had a promising start in the ISL campaign,” Des Buckingham conveyed the mood within the Mumbai City FC squad.
Kerala Blasters are in scorching form this season, securing victories in both of their initial matches against Bengaluru and Jamshedpur on their home turf. Their standout performer, Adrian Luna, is aiming for stellar achievements this season, and thwarting the Tuskers will pose a formidable challenge for the Islanders.
“We have faced them on numerous occasions. This marks my third year with the team. We enjoyed a few successful encounters, both at their turf and ours, against Kerala last season. However, it’s important to note that this season may present a different scenario. They are an exceptionally strong team,” Buckingham emphasized the formidable strength of the Kerala Blasters squad.
Vikram Partap Singh, the winger, shared his sentiments leading up to the match. He expressed, “It’s truly a special experience to compete in front of our home crowd. Their unwavering support, whether we’re celebrating a goal or facing adversity, always boosts our spirits. It’s a wonderful feeling.“
“When facing Kerala Blasters, it’s always an exciting matchup because they boast a massive fan base, and this season, they have assembled a formidable team. Their unbeaten streak in the last two matches serves as motivation for everyone on our team, and we’re eager to take on the challenge,” he added.
