10-Men ATK Mohun Bagan hold Mumbai City in a sensational end-to-end draw: Just when we thought the first month of Hero Indian Super League had it all, the match between Mumbai City FC and ATK Mohun Bagan went up a notch. The Islanders led the game twice but the spirited Mariners pulled them back each time even with a man down. Both teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw at the Mumbai Football Arena.

Unbeaten Mumbai City has never lost any match against ATK Mohun Bagan who were eagerly looking to turn the table. The match had a fitting start with the Islanders creating problems through a perfect set piece. Eventually, they went to the lead following an absolute stunner by Chhangte who shifted to his left, and his attempt from 35 yards hit the inside of the crossbar and went over the line. However, the Mariners did not hold back and could have had the equalizer as Liston’s header from a Petratos cross rattled the crossbar. Vishal made two impressive saves denying Chhangte and Stewart.

The Mariners had chances of their own through Petratos and Hugo Bumous however, they failed to restore parity. Mumbai City managed to have the lead going into the break.

However, the lead did not last for long as the Mariners hit back just after the break when Kauko found the back of the net guiding past Phurba. The Islanders then started probing into the opposition’s ha;f creating chancing eventually paying off through Jahouh’ whose cross was met by Roston and coming off the bar and Vishal’s fumble helped him to regain the lead.

A few minutes later, Lenny was sent off due to his actions against Greg Stewart. With 10 men, ATK Mohun Bagan had an uphill task in the last 10 minutes to take something out of the game. Vipin Singh came close and Greg Stewart’s attempt also went off the bar, giving the Mariners life to make a comeback. Eventually, ATKMB did so through the substitute Carl Mchugh’s header following Petratos’s cross. Both teams settled for a point, going against toe-to-toe from the get-go.

ATK Mohun Bagan FC will be very much happy with the point, while the Islanders will be disappointed. ATKMB will take on Northeast United at the Saltlake. Meanwhile, Mumbai City will be looking to get back on track against Chennaiyin FC.
