Ten oldest cricketers to feature in IPL 2021

IPL or the Indian Premier League, since its inception, has been packaged as the “Fast & Furious” style of the game of Cricket.

Consequently, here youngsters draw all the attention and limelight, simply because of their energy and enthusiasm that they bring along on the field. However, despite the shorter version, it’s still a game of cricket that just cannot be won by enthusiasm alone.

Therefore, here’s a look at the most experienced players to feature in IPL 2021

1. Rohit Sharma: Age 34 – DOB: 30 April 1987

In this year’s IPL, Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians skipper, will play the tournament as one of the most experienced cricketers, ageing 34-year-old. He is also considered the most successful captain in IPL winning a record 5 titles for the franchise.

 

2. MS Dhoni: Age 39 – DOB: 7 July 1981

The captain-cool of Chennai Super Kings will be ageing 39 years when he will take the field in the yellow jersey for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League this year. MS Dhoni has scored 4632 runs in 204 matches in IPL.

 

 

3. Harbhajan Singh: Age 40 – DOB: 3 July 1980

Harbhajan Singh will play this year’s edition of the Indian Premier League, for Kolkata Knight Riders at the age of 40 years. The Tarbunator has started with Mumbai Indians alongside Sachin Tendulkar and featured in all edition of the tournament since 2008. He has bagged 150 wickets in 160 matches in IPL.

 

 

 

4. Imran Tahir: Age 41 – DOB: 27 March 1979

The South Africa spinner is the oldest in the lot to take part in the Indian Premier League 2021 at the age of 41. He will be donning the yellow jersey for Chennai Super Kings.

5. Chris Gayle: Age 41 – DOB: 21 September 1979

The West Indian giant is also the oldest cricketer to play in the 14th edition of IPL. He will be playing for Kings XI Punjab, who recently changed their name to Punjab Kings this year. Gayle has amassed 4772 runs in 132 matches in the tournament.
6. Amit Mishra: Age 38 – DOB: 24 November 1982

Amit Mishra, the veteran Indian spinner, with the second highest wickets in IPL, will be taking the field in this year’s IPL at the age of 38 years. Amit Mishra has bagged so far 160 wickets in 150 IPL games.

 

7. Wriddhiman Saha: Age 36 – DOB: 24 October 1984
The wicket-Keeper batsman is the oldest player in Sunrisers Hyderabad camp. At the age of 36, he will be donning the SRH jersey in IPL 2021. He has scored 1979 runs in 124 matches.

8. Kedar Jadhav: Age 35 – DOB: 26 March 1985
The experienced middle-order batsman will be playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 2021 IPL season at the age of 35. Kedar has scored 1141 runs in 87 matches.

 

 


9. Daniel Christian: Age 37 – DOB: 4 May 1983
Australian all-rounder will don Royal Challengers Bangalore jersey for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. He will be making his comeback in the Indian Premier League after three years. The all-rounder has taken 36 runs and scored 446 runs in the tournament.

 


10. Andrew Tye: Age 34 – DOB: 12 December 1986
Andrew Tye will be taking the field for Rajasthan Royals at the age of 34 years. He is also the oldest player in terms of age in the Rajasthan Royals team. He has so far taken 40 wickets in 27 games in the tournament.
