ATK Mohun Bagan, FC Goa agree Glan and Lenny swap deal – ISL 2022-23: ATK Mohun Bagan reunite with Midfielder Glan Martins after agreeing to a swap deal with Lenny Rodriquez rejoining the Gaurs. Both clubs went through the same deal ()featuring the same two players) two years back, exchanging sides. Glan had a breakthrough under Juan Ferrando (during his time in FC Goa) and his inclusion would certainly give depth to the wounded Mariners. The midfielder signed three years five-month deal, remaining at the club until July 2023.
ATK Mohun Bagan FC were in search of bodies in the midfield after quite a few players in the same players getting ruled out of the season due to injuries. Glan Martins, a midfielder with an aggressive mindset of pressing and tackling is likely to give something different to the Mariners. This is the second domestic recruitment made by the club after Puitea joined a few days back.
In terms of game time, Glan played for only 470 minutes, appearing in 15 matches under Carlos Pena’s coaching with the Spaniard relying on young midfielder Ayush Chhetri. Meanwhile, Lenny Rodriquez had a quite similar experience in the Green and Marron colors, playing for only 448 minutes under Juan Ferrando. Both players had substitute appearances in their respective last games.
Glan Martins has already landed in Kolkata and he is likely to start training under Ferrando on Tuesday. Lenny Rodriquez has rejoined his former club and he will also start training on the same day. The Mariners, currently placed fourth in the league standings, with 24 points in 14 games, will host Odisha FC at the Saltlake, on Saturday, January 28. Glan will certainly be hoping to make his presence count as the Mariners fight to collect the three points in a bid to strengthen their qualification in the playoffs. Meanwhile, FC Goa will host the other side from Kolkata, East Bengal on 26 January 2023.
